“Sandy and Dave Reynolds”
Retirees, yes even senior citizens based on some standards, and yet we still are excited about using computers and the internet. It appears to be a challenge that we must master. I listen to many of our friends who have no interest in text messaging, being on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Just a quick note, most of them do send emails and have a cell phone so they are not totally dark ages. They are very critical of the younger generation in this way. I guess it is just not something they are familiar with and they have no desire to learn. Instead I say join them. I must say I enjoy getting text messages from my lovely daughter in addition to our daily phone calls. To me it is just another way to stay in touch. We enjoy spending as much time as possible with her. We even have the privilege to puppy-sit for her two dogs when she is traveling. Believe it or not, we still love her dearly. She is also a part of our home-based travel business that we have the joy of working as a family. God has truly blessed our lives.
Dave and I retired from teaching after 33 wonderful years in the classroom. Dave taught science in the middle school and high school, as well as being athletic director for 3 years. I taught in the elementary classroom while spending most of my time in second grade — my all-time favorite. Education was a very rewarding career but it is your life. So much time is spent on school work, by the time you have your family time, there is not much time left for anything else. I longed to be actively involved in church and volunteer activities. That is just what our retirement has allowed us to do.
However, after retirement we continued to feel the need to be productive — Possibly a home-based business opportunity? Preferably internet based? During our teaching career, we had both received a computer endorsement and used computers extensively in our classrooms. When presented with an online travel website opportunity, we both believed that it was part of God’s plan for our lives. We enjoy meeting people and passing out our business cards for them to book travel on our travel website and shop at our online shopping mall.
Having been in education all of our lives, Dave and I were unaware of the many tax benefits of owning a home-based business when we were presented with the awesome home-based travel business opportunity. There are hundreds of tax laws concerning home-based businesses. To us it just seemed to make sense to take advantages of the tax laws in our retirement, supplement our retirement income, and take advantage of the many travel opportunities available to us through our travel company.
Earning commission on personal travel as well as friends and families was appealing at first but marketing the Travel Websites to others has been even more intriguing. Some people desire to have a home-based travel business and receive the tax benefits of a home-based business. However, we have found that many people desire to have a travel website just for their friends and families to book travel. We love the opportunity to help others realize the benefits of a home-based business and help them reach their dream — whatever it might be.
Our latest endeavor has been our intense passion in writing. In addition to our blogs, Sandy Reynolds Online, Born to Rome Travel, Meditations of My Heart, and Sandy1020, Dave and I are co-authoring a book entitled “When ME becomes WE — Together as One.” We hope that by sharing some of our life experiences that someone may be benefited in some way. Be sure to check Sandy1020 for our latest writing projects.
