As the current school years winds down, summer vacation is just around the corner. I know that there are many teachers out there who made a difference in a child’s life this year as well as in years past. Also, there are many students who would like to say thank you to one of their teacher’s who made a difference in their life. Please allow this video to speak for them and others as we thank all teachers for their time, their commitment, and dedication. As a retired teacher, I recall this time of year when a former student would return to say that they missed you, and share their life with you. This video was created by Brian Asselin and Eric Disero and is dedicated to teachers who inspire their students everyday.

Missed Opportunities

As I was pondering what to write, I came upon the statement below and had to share it with others. Since initially reading this statement, it has made me much more aware of the individuals that I meet in my daily life. Each of our lives was created by God and he has a plan for each of us. Sometimes we follow his plan but there are times that we are too busy and divert from God’s plan and follow our own plan instead. Our busy schedules keep us from many missed opportunities that God has planned.

When God puts another individual in your pathway, it may be simply to share a moment in time or it may be a treasured relationship to last a lifetime. Sometimes we willingly accept the opportunity and other times we just keep going about our daily lives — thus, a missed opportunity. It saddens me to think back about the missed opportunities that God has put before me that I neglected to see. I hope that by viewing this statement that it may make a difference in your life too.

“God determines who walks into your life… It’s up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.”

Introducing “Fit Fam for Life”

Currently, our family is working on developing a new blog for all your health, fitness, and wellness needs for your family. My husband, Dave, my daughter, Shauna, and myself will each contribute articles for your enjoyment. My daughter has a background in physical education and wellness with much expertise to share. We all have developed a passion in health, fitness, and wellness as we seek to encourage others and try to make a difference in their lives. Make A Difference

“Be A Teacher — Make A Difference” was written, filmed, directed, and edited by Max Hilleary. It was a Public Service Announcement made in 2005 to enter into a Kansas State Film Competition for Middle and High School students. Max won 3rd Place for the PSA. It stars his sister, Sophie. Max shares in his video that there are two paths — the path that leads to success and the path that leads to failure. As a teacher, you can make a difference in your students’ lives.

Teachers, You Can Make a Difference

Sometimes as teachers you may become frustrated and wonder, “Why do I even try?” It would be easy to give up. Well maybe you can’t make a difference in all the children but you should never give up. The child in the Starfish Story could have given up and quit throwing the starfish back into the ocean. However, he knew that it made a difference for each individual starfish that he threw back. As teachers you must never give up but rather keep touching the lives of each child that you teach. It only takes one to make a difference.
