Kelly Swanson is a motivational speaker, comedian, corporate speaker, and storyteller. Listen as she shares familiar thoughts about teaching. As a retired teacher of 33 years, I can appreciate her thoughts and ideas about teaching. I believe that teaching must be a passion from within. Even if as a teacher you make a difference in one child’s life, it makes it all worthwhile.

Teaching has changed drastically over the years with many additional responsibilities. Students have additional issues in their lives that teachers attempt to help them overcome. Students must deal with peer pressure dealing with sex, drugs, alcohol, and even violence.

Parents, if there is one point that I would like to make, it is to give the teacher the benefit of the doubt. Try to be supportive of the teacher and never show disapproval in front of your child. Most teachers have benefit of your child in mind. Give them a chance to do their part. Children must learn to adapt to different situations in life. It helps if they begin at a early age.
